-viral diagnostic analysis in clinical virology
The research aims of the AG Chair of Virology are the comprehensive analysis for regulation of viral replication and gene expression about complex interactions between viral pathogens and their respective hosts, relevante for the understanding of pathogenese of important viral diseases.
Hereby the main focus is on the interaction of viral pathogens and the hosts immune system, which is essentiell for controlling an infection. Furthermore the Chair of Virology is doing the viral diagnostical analysis in scope of the clinical virology.
There are 65 scientist distributed in different work groups in Chair of Virology. They co-operate closely with the Chair of Immunobiology of Institute of Virology and Immunobiology and also with members of ZINF (Research Center for Infectious Diseases), different special research projects, graduated colleges and the interdisciplinated center of clinical research.
